I have my second individual consultation meeting regarding my potential redundancy tomorrow and I'm not holding up much hope. In my first meeting I was really thorough about raising all of my points and concerns about the future of the business without my role, about the type of person, expertise and experience they'd be losing, but I feel like it all fell of deaf ears. So I'm expecting I'll be told tomorrow that my redundancy is being confirmed.

One small win is that they're planning on delaying my provisional end date to the end of November, so that's an extra couple of months pay to fall back on, on top of the statutory redundancy payment and PILON (“payment in lieu of notice”). And that should support me and my family for the next 6 months or so if I fail to get another job before then. Small positive I guess.

Regardless, since this process started, I've just felt numb day-in and day-out. I've just been in a constant state of not feeling like doing anything, to the point where I'll just sit in silence for hours on end, waiting around like a zombie. That feeling did take a pause with my trip to Italy last week, which was a welcomed distraction, however the same numb, checked-out feeling has returned this week.

At least I'll likely have a decision tomorrow and I can start realistically planning what's next, one way or another.

Sorry, yet another gloomy post but it’s something I just need to say I guess.
